1. Introduction

Welcome to Cloakly. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website or use our desktop application and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

2. Data We Collect

We collect and process the following types of data:

  • Identity Data: Includes email address when you sign up for our beta or newsletter.
  • Technical Data: Includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you use our website and application.

Important: Cloakly is designed to protect your screen privacy. We do not record, transmit, or store the contents of your screen, windows, or applications that you choose to hide or manage using Cloakly. All window management processing happens locally on your device.

3. Antivirus Warnings & "False Positives"

To provide seamless window management and privacy features, Cloakly utilizes standard Windows APIs and techniques such as DLL injection. This allows the application to interact with other windows to apply privacy settings (like preventing screen capture) directly.

Heads Up: Because some malicious software affects system behavior, your antivirus (like Windows Defender) might mistakenly flag privacy utilities as a threat. This is known as a False Positive.

We want to be 100% transparent with you:

  • Cloakly is safe: We only use this tech to hide the windows you tell us to.
  • Zero Spying: We do not log keystrokes, record your screen, or read your files.
  • Local Only: All window management happens right on your PC. No data leaves your device.

If your antivirus blocks Cloakly, you may need to add it to your "Allow" list or "Exclusions" to use the app effectively.

4. How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • To provide and maintain our Service.
  • To notify you about changes to our Service.
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service when you choose to do so.
  • To provide customer support.
  • To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Service.

5. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know.

6. Third-Party Links

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.
